1961 Giannini GN60 Classical Guitar - Brazilian Rosewood for sale in Salem, OR
1961 Giannini GN60 Classical Guitar - Brazilian Rosewood. The rosewood is laminate, but the laminate has rosewood on both sides (inside and out), I know this because I put a warm wet rag on the inside wood and I could clearly smell the floral smell of true rosewood. I own a Gibson Classical Richard Pick model which has solid Brazilian rosewood, and as a hobbyist luthier I've worked with the material, so I know the aroma. See and listen to my video (link below) to hear the guitar, and hear how it does have characteristics of the solid rosewood sound. The top is solid spruce. This is a great sounding, great playing guitar, the string action is easy -- a little below a concert height, at 3.5 mm for the bass and 3.2 mm for the treble at the 12th fret. I arrived at the 1961 year from the serial number (I-646) and also the address on the label, which is AL. OLGA. 414 -- SAO PAULO -- BRAZIL. This address wasn't used after about the mid 1960's. This guitar is 60 years old, which I'm sure contributes to the great sound, but as a result it has a number of finish cracks (you can see in the pictures), these are only in the finish, not in the wood. It also has many small dings and scratches -- but overall it looks very nice and attractive -- and in this case the age is a feature, giving it a warm, mellow look. It also feels great in the hands and is a joy to play. I replaced the plastic saddle with a bone saddle. Can only ship to continental United States.Hear the guitar at: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ILYBKbfoCAI
