If you are the successful candidate, you will become part of the Department's management team.
This position serves as Designated Procurement Officer and ensures compliance with Oregon Statutes, Department of Justice rules, and Department of Administrative Services rules by providing oversight of the department's procurement processes; managing the Purchasing and Contracts staff; developing and monitoring the department's procurement goals and objectives; and delivering timely, quality services.

Position Description

three years of management experience in a public or private organization which included responsibility for each of the following: a) development of program rules and policies, b) development of long and short-range goals and plans, c) program evaluation, and d) budget preparation.
OR
two years of management experience in a public or private organization which included responsibility for each of the following; a) development of program rules and policies, b) development of long- and short-range goals and plans, c) program evaluation, and d) budget preparation; AND 45-48 quarter hours (30-32 semester hours) of graduate level coursework in management.
OR
three years of professional experience as a program/project leader, assigning and reviewing work of professional staff including project responsibility for developing goals and objectives, project evaluation, and monitoring and controlling or preparing a budget.
SPECIAL QUALIFICATIONS
Thorough knowledge on procurement activities that include all contracting, contract release orders, invitation to bid, delegated commodities, and a procurement card program;
Experience in managing and directing day to day operations of state purchasing and contracts;
Ability to apply general rules, regulations, and policies to specific work situations;
Expertise in technical procurement analysis;
Expert knowledge of the Oregon Procurement Code and Oregon Attorney General Model Public Contract Rules and computerized accounting or purchasing systems.

Oregon Department of Corrections (ODOC) complies with the Federal Prison Rape Elimination Act (PREA). Veterans Preference Points are awarded to eligible veterans seeking employment with the Oregon Department of Corrections. Veterans must provide appropriate documentation to qualify for these additional preference points and must submit the documentation with each application. The DD215 must accompany the DD214 that was modified. Only DD214 Member Copy 4, Service Copy 2 and Service Copy 3 are accepted to verify character of service. Other copies will not be accepted and points will not be awarded.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
