Manager, Final Products Department

Education Requirement:
A Bachelor's degree in Food Science, Business, or other related fields is preferred.
Substitute for Education:
A lesser degree and/or three to six years of progressively responsible managing experience in a documented food-related industry position may be accepted.
Role Purpose Statement:
This is a management exempt position, responsible for managing all aspects of the Final Products Department's operations to ensure expectations are met in regards to productivity, quality and safety.

Summary:
Accountable for managing plant production activities across multiple shifts and/or Final Products areas to produce products which meets established standards for quality, customer service, safety, innovation and cost metrics consistent with schedules and policies. Implements standard work and maintains improvement through sustaining behaviors, operating with discipline and rigor and implementing autonomous maintenance within company guidelines. Oversee the production of quality products to fulfill internal and external customer requirements. Controls and effectively utilizes the production capacity, manpower and equipment and outside resources through planning, organizing and scheduling to minimize losses; works within the framework of the Final Products Department budget to optimize company's profitability.
Required Skills:
1. Strong presentation, communication, training, leadership, project management and interpersonal skills.
2. Acquired knowledge of, and experience operating in a Food Manufacturing environment with three to six years in a lead/management position.
3. Excellent analytical and conceptual skills.
4. Knowledge and developed skill level to make complex mathematical computations to determine budget, productivity and other standard calculations related to the essential functions of this position.
5. Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with employees, supervisors and the general public.
6. Intermediate knowledge of MS Office and MS Dynamics preferred.
7. Must be a team player and be able to interact with staff at all levels of the company.
8. Must be able to work under pressure, meet deadlines, and be flexible in working on multiple projects simultaneously.
9. Excellent time-management skills with the ability to work independently with little supervision.
10. The ability to be a change agent and someone who is able to make it happen while building positive relationships.
11. The ability to collaborate with Production and Senior Management on changes in the manufacturing process.
12. Meet and maintain compliance with requirements set forth on the ADA check sheet for this position.
Essential Functions:
1. Plan, organize, direct, and manage the Final Products Department with regard to daily hours, schedules, productivity, quality and safety as well as develop and manage production/staffing schedules. Ensure optimal deployment of human, technical and material resources in the department.
2. Establish and communicate performance expectations and take corrective action as necessary on a timely basis in accordance with company policy. Make company's values and management principles alive in the Final Products Department. Respond appropriately to employee grievances. Consult with Personnel/Human Resources Department as appropriate to each situation.
3. Ensure compliance with current federal, state and local regulations in all aspects of the Final Products Department i.e. FDA, BOLI, EEOC, ADA, etc.
4. Guide, motivate and develop the subordinate employees. Participate in coaching career-development-activities to enhance the effectiveness and potential of the team. Provide employee training to ensure that employees are performing job responsibilities effectively.
5. Evaluate subordinate performance, communicate with employees, and provide all necessary information for work performance improvements.
6. Act as liaison between subordinate levels and Senior Management to inform personnel of communications, decisions, policies, and all matters that affect their performance, attitudes and results.
7. Lead, mentor, and direct all Final Products Production Leads in developing and maintaining characteristics consistent with the concepts of continuous improvement.
8. Maintains a close working knowledge of the safe and proper operation of Final Products Department equipment.
9. Consistently pursue the implementation of a safety culture that values all employees working safely with others around them. Support plant and company safety programs, promoting and maintaining a high level of awareness and adherence to defined employee safety requirements such as lock-out/tag-out, personal protective equipment and confined space entry.
10. Assist other staff members in the development and formulation of company's long and short-range planning, policies, programs and objectives.
11. Coordinate efforts to maintain optimal flow by working with company's Logistics Systems, Brewing Department, QA/ QC, Senior Management and HR/ Personnel. Also work with these groups and follow through to ensure effective countermeasures are being established when problems occur.
12. Provide data for the development of an annual budget for the Final Products Department. Plan, implement and control the final approved budget in the Final Products Department; initiate and steer corrective actions in case of deviations.
13. Ensure compliance with GMP, customer specifications, quality standards, Food and Drug Administration (FDA), Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP), safety, health, environmental and other regulations. Initiate and control continuous optimization of processes. Investigate quality issues, develop and implement corrective actions.
14. Ensure on-time and accurate production in the preparation and filling of all products including tanker fills.
15. Ensure par levels of product inventory and customer specific needs in accordance with company established procedure.
16. Develop systems to track, monitor, and improve processes in all production practices including but not limited to: safety, quality, delivery, and cost. Ensure all daily manufacturing documents are completed and accurate.
17. Direct the establishment, implementation and maintenance of policies regarding safety, continuous improvement strategies, production standards, manufacturing techniques, quality, cost reduction, complete and on-time delivery, customer satisfaction, employee relations, visual controls, and overall production performance in the Final Products Department.
18. Maintain an ongoing, positive and pro-active relationship with all internal and external customers.
19. Function with limited direct supervision. Initiate, coordinate, and manage special projects as needed (i.e. facility changes, installation of capital equipment).
20. Oversees completion of required paper work and samples for QC. Ensure all office work is completed in a timely manner.Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
