Operate a forklift and other equipment in the performance of tasks related to the receipt and shipment of materials, operating supplies and finished product.
Work is performed independently under the general direction of the Warehouse Supervisor.
Assume supervisory responsibilities in the absence of the Warehouse Supervisor.
Specific Responsibilities (Includes but not limited to):
Review shipping and receiving schedules and estimate worker requirements to complete assignments; assist the Supervisor/Manager with day-to-day activities in the areas of shipping volume, on time shipments, availability, etc.
Daily orders printed and processed in WMS.
Partner with Warehouse Manager to achieve OTS (On Time Shipment) and Availability goals; make recommendations regarding workload, schedule, personnel assignments, and opportunities for improvement.
Pull finished product from inventory, assemble orders and prepare for shipment in accordance with company policy and customer requests.
Work with Supervisor/Department Manager to ensure department personnel follow procedures, company policies, and best practices to achieve OTS and Availability goals; Assist Supervisor in creating standardized work practices for all processes - existing and new.
Identify opportunities to apply Lean Principles and ensure that established lean processes are followed.
May provide backup to Shipping or Factory Logistics; Pick orders, receive inbound material including finished product from other locations, raw materials, operating supplies and equipment.
Transfer product to appropriate locations and departments.
Use Barcode Scanner to achieve inventory accuracy; report inventory discrepancies to appropriate personnel.
Train and coach new and temporary employees in standard operating procedures; retrain existing employees on process changes.
Takes on 5S responsibilities when implemented.
Count and examine supplies, finished product, etc.
to verify completeness against appropriate documents; check for damaged materials; maintain records of shortages, damages and other exceptions; Match material against bills of lading; work with appropriate personnel to correct discrepancies.
Maintains work location in excellent condition to comply with company policies for safety and housekeeping; work with Supervisor to resolve housekeeping and safety-related issues.
Assume supervisory responsibilities in the absence of the Supervisor, including prioritizing, shift scheduling, and problem solving.
Conducts safety tasks such as equipment checklist, maintaining spill kits and personal protection equipment.
Open building for business and close at end of day , includes alarm setting and over all building security Performs other duties as directed by Supervisor or Warehouse Manager.
Qualifications/
Experience:
Education:
High school diploma or GED certificate.
Experience:
4-5 years of experience in a manufacturing or distribution environment which must have included at least one year experience in forklift operation; ability to meet company training program requirements for certification for forklift license.
Special Requirements/Competencies:
Understand all Sika Corporation and Chino specific procedures and follows accordingly.
Able to read, write, speak and comprehend English.
Able to motivate and direct the work of others.
Proficient in data entry; attention to detail; effective organization skills.
Must be able to maintain an excellent attendance record.
Must be flexible to work any shift and overtime as necessary.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
