Job Description:
The Oregon State Fire Marshal (OSFM) is currently a bureau of the Oregon State Police.
On July 1, 2023, per House Bill 2927 OSFM will become its own agency.
As such, the OSFM is a rapidly growing agency offering the rare and exciting opportunity to help grow a new government agency in Oregon's executive branch.
The mission of the OSFM is protecting life, property and the environment from fire and hazardous materials and accomplishes this through our four divisions and their programs.
We work with the Oregon fire service consisting of 305 fire districts/departments and more than 13,000 fire firefighters to ensure our mutual missions and priorities are accomplished.

OSFM is hiring one (1) full-time, permanent Community Risk Reduction Research Analyst (Research Analyst 3) for its Analytics and Intelligence Unit.
This position is located at the Salem Headquarters office with the option to work remotely 2-3 days per week.
The Analytics and Intelligence Unit aims to promote exceptional and equitable service by embracing opportunity for growth and providing innovation, resources, and support to staff and the fire service.
The unit collaborates with OSFM leadership and staff to design, conduct, and implement research and data-informed change throughout the agency.
As the Community Risk Reduction Research Analyst, you will use your experience with statistics, relational databases, program management, and data analytics to communicate recommendations related to fire and emergency services in Oregon.
You will also have a chance to strategize with a team of analytical professionals and guide decision making within the agency.

Minimum Qualifications (these must be addressed in your resume for full consideration):
A Bachelor's Degree in any discipline that included six-quarter units in statistics or quantitative analysis methods and procedures, and one year experience using computerized applications to independently gather, compile, and analyze data and prepare narrative or statistical reports; OR Four years of research experience using computerized applications to independently gather, compile, and analyze data and prepare narrative or statistical reports.

Proficiency with the following computer applications and OS platforms:
Microsoft Office Suite, analytic applications (ex:
R, SAS, and/or SPSS), GIS software (ex:
ArcGIS), database software (ex:
SQL-Server), and data visualization software (ex:
R, Tableau, and Microsoft PowerBl); knowledge of specialized computer data querying, structure, and scripting language (ex:
SQL and XML).
Experience collecting and analyzing data to write articles or technical reports.
Experience with project management.
Advanced public speaking skills including explaining technical information to a diverse audience of different ages and education, economic, and occupational backgrounds while ensuring clear understanding of the information provided.
Ability to work collaboratively with a dynamic team of analytical professionals.
