This is a part-time faculty pool for available assignments during the 2014/15 academic year. Applications are considered throughout the academic year and reviewed based on department need. TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT
Requires flexible work schedule to meet program needs, which may include evenings and/or weekends

Instructors in this position will teach General Journey-level Apprenticeship courses in the construction trades of:
HVAC/R
Inside Wire Electrician
LME (limited Maintenance Electrician)
MW (Millwright)
Plumber
Sheet Metal Technician
Trade Skills Fundamentals
Duties and
Responsibilities:
Teaches assigned classes following approved course outline; prepares and develops materials for assigned classes; provides students and college with course syllabi and recommends textbooks and other instructional material and/or equipment
Provides classroom environment conducive to learner growth in a variety of delivery methods (individualized, small group, lecture/discussion); instructional duties and group facilitation
Maintains student records of grades and attendance; scores practice tests and develops student educational plans
May participate in curriculum development; may recommend textbooks and other instructional materials/equipment; may recommend library and reference materials; may recommend course outline revision
Keeps current on technological changes, developments in subject area, and innovative teaching techniques
Understands, develops, and provides a learning environment that supports diversity and incorporates a sensitivity to diversity in the workplace
Promotes and applies the college's values for teaching and learning; creates a learning climate of mutual respect and fairness; encourages creative and critical thinking; actively engages students in the learning process; facilitates learning that applies to and enriches a students; encourages mutual responsibility for a supportive learning environment; clarifies expectations and encourages student responsibility for learning; and promotes learning as a life-long process
Performs other related duties as directed
Qualifications:
MINIMUM
Qualifications:
A current journey-level card or license in selected trade
AND
Five years' journey-level experience working in industry
OR
Five years' experience teaching / coaching adults
CORE COMPETENCIES:
Strong interpersonal, communication, technical and organizational skills;
Ability to use technology with students in the classroom and to work with a team of educational staff.
PREFERRED
Qualifications:
Current Supervisor or Inspector license
Degree from an accredited institution
Supplemental Information:
Preference may be given to Chemeketa employees based upon current labor/employment contracts.
Teaching assignment may include evening and week-end courses and the use of non-traditional delivery methodologies, .e.g. cable television and on-line/internet courses.
Recently hired faculty are expected to participate in a new faculty orientation program.
